Rules and takedowns

This is a community site for mods made for the Mario Kart DS Rust port. It is a fan project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo.

What you may upload

Content you made, or content whose author allows you to share it (say which license applies).
Characters (models, animations, voices, face patterns), tracks, karts, battle stages, music and texture packs, packaged as a ZIP with a manifest.json.

Allowed file types

Packages may contain only formats the game reads, plus package metadata. The contents must match the extension; files inside .narc/.carc archives follow the same rules. Everything else is rejected.

What you may not upload

Game ROMs or save files (.nds, .srl, .sav and similar), or files extracted from the game, whole or modified. Existing game files may only be changed through patches (bsdiff) that are applied to the player's own copy.
ROMs or disc images of any console, other archives (zip, 7z, rar…), executables or scripts, malware, or anything that tries to harm players.
Sexual or shocking images, or links to ROM download sites.
Other people's work without permission.

How uploads are checked

Every upload is screened automatically (package format, allowed file types, ROM and disc-image headers, a malware scan, an image filter, audio length, links, and a hash comparison with the retail game files that never needs the game itself) and then waits in quarantine until a moderator approves it. You can follow the status and any reasons on your My uploads page.

Takedowns

Rights holders and community members can use the “Report this mod” form on any mod page. Reported mods are reviewed by moderators, can be pulled back into quarantine, and are removed if they break these rules. Repeat offenders are banned.

Accounts and downloads

Downloading requires a signed-in account. Download counts are one per account, per version, per day. Ratings are one per member per mod, after downloading it.
